Prescott Received Wild West Outfit from Anschutz
Britain's Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott is being barraged by criticisms anew following the report that he was given a gift by casino tycoon Philip Anschutz.
Prescott has already been in enough hot water over the issue of being biased towards the casino bid of Anschutz after it was made public that he vacationed in the US billionaires Colorado estate.
According to reports, Prescott was given a hand made wild west outfit by Anschutz.
The source reportedly said that the gift included a pair of leather boots, a Stetson hat and a personalized belt with his initials JP on the silver buckle. The gift was said to have been presented during Prescott's stay at the ranch.
Local craftsmen estimate the value of the item at around 11,000 pounds sterling.
Prescott does not believe that there was anything improper about the visit and the six other times that he has met with Anschutz. He has rejected the allegations that he sought to influence key offices to be in favor of the Millennium Dome casino bid.
A spokeswoman said that all gifts received by Prescott over the past year would be declared, like always, towards the end of the month.
"All gifts are registered in the usual way and the annual return will be published in a Parliamentary Question in July as is normal practice for all ministers," she said.
